I am a Third Generation Local
My lifelong passion for horse riding has led me on a journey that began in Dressage and Eventing. Today, I traverse the high mountain trails of Colorado in the summer and the foothills and valleys of New Mexico and Utah in the winter, all surrounding Aztec, NM. I am captivated by the high desert landscape, the vibrant diversity of the population, and the endless opportunities to embrace a fulfilling life.
My dedication to this area and the restoration of Aztec's historic downtown is unwavering. I am driven to contribute to the growth of this community by investing my time and resources to bolster the city's efforts to revive the local economy while safeguarding our beloved Main Avenue.
I have renovated 200 South Main and transformed it into The Leanor, a Petite Hotel and Event Center. This charming space, located in downtown Aztec, offers comfortable rooms, modern amenities, and a unique cultural experience. The Leanor's Namesake Eleanor Kelly
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I left my job at the library to take care of my mother who suffered from dementia. During that time, I did my best to provide her with a peaceful and dignified end to her life. To honor her legacy of hard work, service, and commitment to our community, I named a building on 200 South Main Avenue after her and my grandmother, both named Eleanor.
I believe in the City of Aztec's vision for rebuilding our economy and ensuring that no one is left behind. To achieve this, I propose creating a sharing economy that fosters community building. We can offer affordable space in The Leanor building to local entrepreneurs, giving them a consistent schedule to sell their products and build connections. We can also create a shared space for teenagers and young adults, where they can gather and use the space and time as they see fit.
The Petite Hotel, located in downtown Aztec, provides an ideal location for tourists, remote workers, and locals to stay and experience everything that our city has to offer.
